Dr. Shyama Nagarajan


Dr. Shyama Nagarajan is a Medical Graduate with a Masters in Hospital Management from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), and a Masters in public health management from the National Board. She has over 22yrs of multifaceted experience in both the public and private sectors, including the donor partners and corporates.

Having served in a national leadership roles at  ICRA, The World Bank, Fortis and Ernst & Young, faculty to some of the leading management institutes in the country and as mother in a joint family; she has had the opportunity to closely watch the changing facets of human nature at different stages of life when exposed to various environmental challenges and its impact on human being at their cellular levels.

Therefore, while she is into providing active hospital and healthcare consultancy services; given her experience, she intends to share her time for active listening to people across age groups to unburden fellow friends, and enable them to love themselves.

She was instrumental in pioneering Healthcare Grading (opening on institute's capability to deliver quality care, offering price versus value analysis) services in India during her tenure in ICRA, and has to her credit more than 65 national and international publications in peer-reviewed journals, voiced her opinion as domain expert and published thought leadership papers in national and international forums, panels, industry houses. Prof. (Dr.) R. Chandrashekhar

Chief Infrastructure Advisor

Prof. (Dr.) R. Chandrashekhar is a health care professional, architect and teacher rolled into one.

Ex-Chief Architect of Central Design Bureau, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India. He is Consultant to World Bank, Advisor HLL Infra Tech Services Ltd (A GOI Enterprise), and Chairman, IGBC Green Healthcare Rating.

He is the 1st PhD Holder in Medical Architecture in the country, dedicated himself to the health and safety of people through providing great design. He initiated to promote the GRIHA rating in the country to certify public health facilities. 

His long career in leadership roles in the domain of Healthcare Infrastructure Planning & Design, has been instrumental in bringing on technical and policy level reforms in hospital, medical colleges design

He is a graduate of Sir JJ College of Architecture and holds a Ph.D. from B.I.T.S Pilani. Dr Chandrashekhar is an active advocate of relentless learning via teaching as well as continuous upskilling. He participated in a course on “Building Design & Engineering Approach to Airborne Infection Control” at Harvard School of Public Health, Boston, Massachusetts. He has been a WHO Fellow at the Medical Architecture Research Unit (MARU) at South Bank University, London, UK. He also holds several faculty positions at prestigious institutions in India and overseas.

His repertoire as teacher has travelled far and wide as Visiting Professor South Bank university London, UK; Guest Faculty, Masters in Hospital Admin Programme of AIIMS & IIHMR.

Dr Chandrashekhar is a well-travelled and culturally sensitive person with diverse interests ranging from spirituality to politics to health and well-being. He likes to spend his free time with his family and reading about the latest in technology and design.

With over 35 years of experience, he pursued his passion of inspiring young healthcare professionals to continuously think and re-think existing models of health science and hospital design.

Served in the Army Medical Corps for 37 years, in various capacities, primarily in the fields of Hospital and Healthcare Management/Administration, was CEO of a 150 bedded, 250 bedded and lastly 650 bedded super specialty hospital (as a Major General). He has also served thrice in the top training institute of Army Medical Corps Viz Officers Training College Lucknow, retired from there as a Major General. The institute imparts training in hospital administration, material and financial management, General Management, HR, Organizational Behaviour, Leadership skills up to the rank of Brigadiers in AMC. He worked in the HR deptt of Directorate General Medical Services (Army) at Army HQs, dealing with HR Management of 4000 doctors of Indian Army. He has vast experience of Supply Chain Management while commanding Armed Forces Medical Stores Depot at Mumbai as a Brigadier catering for entire Southern India.

He also has experience in Planning of new heath care facilities, NABH accreditation, Quality issues in health care, equipment profiling among others. His experience in Skill development in healthcare sector includes programmes of Ministry of Rural Development, GOI for Para medical staff, under aegis of DDU-GKY. The General officer has attended the prestigious National Defence College Course at NDC New Delhi on subjects of National Strategies & International Relations.

Madhusudan Padhi

A financial specialist and corporate strategist, having more than 32 years of working experience in many reputed private sectors- manufacturing & service sectors- in the diversified functional areas and enriched with a wide range of experience.

Worked as CFO &VP(Commercial ) in SevenHills Hospital –Mumbai & Vizag- 1850 bedded hospital for 12 years and having fairly good knowledge of hospital management, strategies and operation.


Dr. Nandini K. Kumar, MBBS, DCP, MHSc

Research & Development Advisor

Nandini Kumar graduated and Post-graduated in Clinical Pathology from Trivandrum Medical College, and as Fogarty Fellow did Masters in Bioethics from the University of Toronto, Canada. As a researcher she was involved worked in the Gastroenterology Department, Trivandrum Medical College and Institute of Medicine, Madras Medical College. Later as Program Officer in the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) her major work involved Traditional Medicine Research and bioethics besides pharmacology and summer studentships earlier. She was closely involved with the Government’s Golden Triangle Partnership Scheme related to drug development in traditional systems of medicine. She was and is closely involved in the formulation of the national ethical guidelines on bioethics and other related areas. She was an international member of President Obama’s Commission for the Study of ethical issues and is the member of several other national and international committees. She retired from ICMR as Deputy Director General Senior Grade and is presently Dr. TMA Pai Endowment Chair for bioethics in Manipal University and adjunct Professor in PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research and Clinical Development Services Agency of DBT institute, THISTI. She is also involved with ethics committees in various capacities. She has papers mainly in bioethics and traditional medicine and is the reviewer for journals publishing in these areas.


 Dr. Arumugam Murukiah Pillai

Information Technology Advisor

Arumugam is the founder of Broadline Technologies LTD, a premier player in IT services that employs more than 300 professionals working from USA, Middle East and Africa and specializes in Governance, Logistics & Supply Chain, Health, Power, Defense and Education.

With over twenty-five years of experience in information technology, both as a professor and technology entrepreneur. He was a recipient of the prestigious Indian Prime Minister’s E-Governance Award for successful innovation in the year 2000. 

He has done Masters in Technology and Management, PhD in Artificial Intelligence from Toronto University, and a PhD in Logistics and Supply Chain Management from the Madras University, India.  In 1985, he commenced his career with L&T Limited, which was India’s largest infrastructure company.  He later moved to Digital Equipment Corporation Inc. at Boston, USA till 1989 and joined the World Bank as a procurement specialist.

He has been an Adjunct Professor of Supply Chain at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology-Zaragoza Logistics Center, Zaragoza, Spain till 2012anda Visiting Professor of Technology at the Centre for Robotics and Neural Science (CRNS) Plymouth University, United Kingdom since 2012.

Arumugam lives with his wife and son in Chennai, India. He has been passionate about environment and a keen advocate on work-life balance in modern business culture. He enjoys golf and travel with his family.  He has been the commodore of the Tamil Nadu Sailing Association, IIT Alumni Association and Madras Cricket Club.  As a board member of the Harvard Tamil chair, he has been actively involved in the creation of Tamilchair in Harvard.

Arumugam has been a Secretary of trust that manages two schools and a post-graduate research college in Chennai, India established in 1945 and remains closely involved in the development of poor and under-privileged students, offering them education and financial support.

Dr. Sundararajan Srinivasa Gopalan

Public Health Advisor

A public health physician with 40 years of professional experience, Dr. Gopalan comes from India and has lived in 11 countries (India, Nigeria, USA, Denmark, UK, the Maldives, Trinidad & Tobago, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Myanmar), and worked on many more.  After his medical degree from JIPMER, Pondicherry, India (1976), he did his post-graduate education in Community Medicine from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India (1980); and Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD, USA (1984).  His international work experience includes management assignments (principal of a school of health technology in Nigeria and Associate Director of Public Health in the London Borough of Ealing), technical assignments with the World Health Organization (both in its European Regional Office, Copenhagen and in its Country Office in the Maldives), operational and team-leadership with the World Bank in several countries of South Asia and Africa Regions and a senior advisory role as the Health Sector Reform Advisor to the Minister of Health in Trinidad and Tobago. 

After retiring from the World Bank Group in 2013, Dr Gopalan has been undertaking short-term consultancy assignments, including as Operations Advisor to the World Bank Group’s Health Team in Myanmar, Health Policy Advisor (Universal Health Coverage) with World Health Organization in Myanmar, Lead Consultant for the preparation of a GAVI-HSS proposal for Bangladesh and Lead Consultant for a World Bank study on Incentives for Nutrition Outcomes.

His areas of professional interest include: Universal Health Coverage, Health Sector Reform, Health Policy and Management, Nutrition, Public-Private Partnerships, Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E), Health Information Systems, HIV/AIDS, donor coordination and partnerships.  He has led a major analytical work on Bangladesh Private Health Sector Assessment.  He has worked both on sector-wide approaches and cross-sectorally on HIV/AIDS, nutrition, early childhood development, and community-driven development.  He has a special interest in knowledge management, training and mentoring.


Rajeev Saxena

Rajeev has worked on many PFM (public financial management) engagements during his career. Rajeev also has experience in internal financial control assessments. Rajeev has executed & led multiple engagements in emerging and fragile economies of India, Nepal, Bangladesh and UAE.
Rajeev has extensive experience in engagements with multilateral and bilateral like The World Bank Group, ADB DFID, USAID, UNDP, SDC, JICA and Governments [international, national, federal and local self-governance]. Rajeev has experience in multiple sectors including Government, Power, Manufacturing, Local bodies, Infrastructure, Transportation (including rail), Retail, state-owned entities, Hospitality, autonomous bodies etcetera. Rajeev has supported multiple national and sub-national agencies in improving their financial management function and capacity building.
Rajeev has experience in practice of governance and reforms, financial management, governance, accounting reforms and compliance framework. Before starting his own consultancy, Rajeev was working at senior executive management level with the Government & Public Sector Advisory practice in a Big4 firm, India where he closely worked with the Regional IPSAS Contact in South Asia and Global PFM Director of the firm in advocacy & building the practice in financial management, governance, accounting reforms and compliance. He continues the advocacy and practice in the similar domain in his present practice.

N Sailesh Athreyaa

An Electronics Graduate with Masters in Computer Application from Madras University, and PG-Diploma in International Business from  Pondicherry University; Sailesh has been a bridge between the man and the machine in all walks of life. His rich industry experience of 17 years spans across the use of Technology and Management solutions in Operations with Retailers across Middle East, North America, Europe and India. He has rolled out IT solutions roadmap for leading retailers, delivered diverse technical solutions, led Multi-Country Multi-Vendor ERP implementations and has been associated with leading industry service providers as a subject matter expert.
A person with exceptional analytical skills, his repertoire as an articulate communicator across people at all levels has expanded his network of well-wishers through his professional life. Started as an obsessive techie, he realized early that benefits of technology can be leveraged only when it is understood within the larger context of its ability to act as a catalyst for the business. His innate people skills helped to gain a 360 degree customer view; that led to innovative and better technical solutions for business needs.

Taruna Sharma

Director, Programme Management

Over 21 years of progressive work experience, of which, 17 years have been in programme management in the UK’s Department for International Development, DFID. Taruna is a proficient Programme Manager and has led delivery of complex, multi-sectoral, high value, evidence-based reform programmes, such as Sector Wide Approach to Strengthening Health (SWASTH) in Bihar, Odisha Health Sector and Nutrition Support programme, and Water and Sanitation programmes in Bihar, Odisha and Madhya Pradesh.
She has worked across various sectors and in different states. She has extensive experience in strategic planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, managing relations with ministers, senior government officials, development partners, civil society and private sector and has been instrumental in developing collaborative partnerships with stakeholders. She was accredited to the Programme Management Cadre of DFID.

She is a Bachelor of Commerce from Punjab University and was a management trainee at Steel Authority of India previously.
